Magical Yosemite Park Hotel, Activities Create Holiday Glee
FISH CAMP, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2011) – For many Yosemite insiders, going “home” for the holidays means an annual stay at Tenaya Lodge at YosemiteSM, the all-season resort set at the South Gate to Yosemite National Park. This warm and welcoming Yosemite hotel is where a growing number of guests are creating their own season’s traditions and memories.
Tenaya Lodge holiday packages extend the value and the raise the “glee” level to full-alert fun. Kids Dinner with Santa, S’mores Ice Skating, and Warming Holiday Spa packages bundle luxury accommodations with holiday activities at this cozy Yosemite Park hotel.
With holiday-themed activities on from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, Tenaya Lodge creates a magical resort realm with abundant holiday cheer. The holidays get rolling Thanksgiving week with the grand opening of the Ice Skating Rink (with complimentary hot beverages) on Wed., Nov. 23. Tenaya Lodge’s Thanksgiving Buffet is up next, a lavish and legendary feast. A more intimate Thanksgiving dinner by candlelight and crackling fireplace is served at Embers, Tenaya Lodge’s fine dining venue; Sierra Restaurant is also open for a full-service Thanksgiving dining experience.
Friday, Nov. 25 is the season’s first Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop. This wildly popular event is repeated at our Yosemite hotel on Dec. 19 and Dec. 22 – and includes Tenaya’s version of “top gingerbread chef” for some spicy competition. On Sat., Nov. 26, Tenaya’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony is held, featuring a 30-foot, wild-harvested tree handpicked by Tenaya general manager Tom McCann. House-made cookies, cocoa and live entertainment will help “raise the roof” for this splendid evening.
Every Sunday in December, guests can skate with Santa on Tenaya Lodge’s ice rink. In fact, Santa is basically “in the house” at Tenaya during the holidays with multiple opportunities for engagement, starting at Thanksgiving and continuing most notably with Kids Dinner with Santa packages, available on Dec. 20, 22 and 23. By then, it’s high time for St. Nick to get to work up north.
Christmas Eve at Tenaya Lodge offers non-stop merriment from morning through a frosty night, including a Cookie Decorating Workshop (to leave something nice for Santa to nibble) and dining specials in Sierra and Embers restaurants. The magical Christmas Day Buffet takes place in the Tenaya Grand Ballroom.
Times Square comes to our Yosemite Park hotel for the spectacular New Year’s Eve Celebration in the Grand Ballroom (or perhaps something more tropical, as this year’s theme is “It’s a Jungle Out There”). Of course, Embers is even more romantic on NYE and the perfect venue to “pop” that special question (and a bottle of bubbly). Tenaya’s New Year’s Day Champagne Breakfast Buffet is the place to kick-off 2012 in style.

Tenaya Lodge’s winter snowplay options extend to sledding on the resort’s groomed sledding hill (with ever-perfect conditions thanks to a new snowmaking system), horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowshoe hikes and kids’ snowmobiling. And always, ample opportunity to experience the restorative quality of watching kids play in the snow. Yosemite’s Badger Pass Ski Area is just up the road; it may be the best hill in California to learn how to ski and snowboard, or warm up forgotten skills.
